Living Lab Ventures (LLV), the corporate venture capital firm under Sinar Mas Land, has officially launched Innovation Lab (Innolab), a strategic initiative designed to assist global companies in navigating and scaling within the Indonesian market. The program, which offers a structured pathway from initial discovery to commercialization, aims to bridge the gap between global technology providers and the Indonesian business ecosystem through real-world validation and partnership development.
Unveiled by LLV partner Bayu Seto at the Kumpul Connect for Change Summit in Jakarta, Innolab focuses on moving global entities beyond market exploration into sustainable commercial operations. The program utilizes the Sinar Mas Land ecosystem, including BSD City, as a testing ground where companies can assess their business models and technology against local consumer needs. By providing a controlled environment for trials and user research, Innolab helps participants mitigate risks before committing to broader market implementation.
Central to the Innolab model is the concept of “Real Co-Innovation Delivery,” which integrates three core components: real-world testing environments, expert mentorship, and a flexible, collaborative innovation process. The program targets diverse sectors, including digital health, renewable energy, next-generation semiconductors, sustainable logistics, and environmental solutions.
Mulyawan Gani, CEO of strategic healthcare investment and ventures at Sinar Mas Land, highlighted that the initiative functions as a gateway for firms targeting Southeast Asia. By matching companies with intellectual property owners and local stakeholders, the program facilitates milestone-based technical assessments that ensure technological relevance in the local context.
Beyond direct market entry, Innolab fosters deep integration within the local entrepreneurship ecosystem, supported by partners like Kumpul. Recent panel discussions featuring industry experts have emphasized the shift toward ecosystem-led growth, where success is driven by collaborative problem-solving and the translation of emerging technology into market-relevant applications. For LLV, this initiative represents a long-term commitment to building a competitive, innovation-driven economy in Indonesia by connecting global technical expertise with local industrial requirements.
