Since assuming the role of CEO of Saudi Railway Company (SAR) in 2017, Bashar AlMalik has led one of the Kingdom’s most strategic transportation organizations. Under his leadership, SAR continues to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s railway network, supporting greater connectivity, efficient logistics, and sustainable transportation solutions aligned with the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.
Before becoming CEO, Bashar served as Vice President of Technical Affairs at the Saudi Railways Organization and previously held senior leadership positions at the Saudi Ministry of Transport, where he gained extensive experience in transportation planning, traffic management, and infrastructure development. He also served as an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at King Saud University, reflecting his commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development.

His strong academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree in Construction Management, and executive leadership programs at IMD Business School, London Business School, and Oxford Saïd Business School.
Combining technical expertise with strategic leadership, Bashar AlMalik continues to contribute to the modernization of Saudi Arabia’s transportation ecosystem. His vision for efficient rail networks and integrated logistics supports economic diversification while enhancing connectivity across the Kingdom.
