Arada Integrates Tier-One Contractor Roberts into UAE Market

NewsYesterday

UAE-based developer Arada has formally integrated Australian contractor Roberts into the domestic market as part of its wider corporate strategy. The move follows Arada's acquisition of Roberts in 2025 after its initial entry into the Australian market.

At the time of the acquisition, Arada outlined plans to invest approximately $20m into Roberts. This financial commitment was intended to provide the developer with greater control over Australian project delivery while laying the groundwork for international expansion.

Arada has indicated that its total investment in Roberts' expansion into new sectors and markets could reach up to $100m. Looking ahead, the company has set a target of generating $1bn in annual revenue from the contractor by the year 2028.

As part of this regional rollout, Roberts has already established a UAE office complete with a functional head office team in place. The contractor's multi-sector capabilities span healthcare, education, commercial, residential, hospitality, industrial, life sciences, and defence.

Arada has stated that these technical capabilities will directly support the delivery of its high-rise residential and social infrastructure developments across the region. Practical implementation is already underway, with the contractor's maiden UAE assignment designated as phase two of the Arada Central Business District.

This commercial development forms a key component within Aljada, the AED35bn mixed-use project located in Sharjah being developed by Arada. Beyond this active site, Roberts is currently providing preconstruction services for several additional Arada projects situated in both Dubai and Sharjah ahead of formal site work commencing.

For senior business leaders and executives monitoring supply chain integration, such structural moves highlight potential shifts in project oversight and execution capabilities within regional property development. Acquiring and embedding a tier-one contractor directly into domestic operations illustrates a concerted effort by developers to secure delivery timelines and maintain cost controls amid a competitive construction landscape.

While the stated financial targets and multi-million-dollar investment plans signal ambitious growth, the practical significance for wider market competition will depend on the successful execution of these upcoming projects. Observers may wish to watch whether direct vertical integration becomes a broader trend among major regional developers seeking insulation from external contractor volatility.
