Since joining the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in 2015 and becoming its Governor in 2019, Al Rumayyan has overseen one of the world’s most influential sovereign wealth funds. Under his leadership, PIF has expanded its investment portfolio across strategic sectors including technology, infrastructure, mining, energy, manufacturing, entertainment, tourism, sports, and emerging industries.
His leadership has focused on creating long-term economic value while supporting national diversification, fostering innovation, and generating sustainable opportunities that contribute to Saudi Arabia’s future prosperity.
Beyond PIF, Al Rumayyan serves as Chairman of Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies. Since assuming the role in 2019, he has helped guide the company’s strategic direction while supporting innovation, operational excellence, and long-term value creation within the global energy sector.
His leadership also extends across numerous major organizations, including serving as Chairman of Ma’aden, Chairman of Sanabil Investments, Chairman of the Decision Support Center, and a Board Member of Arm, Uber, and the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF). These responsibilities reflect his broad influence across industries that are shaping the future of both Saudi Arabia and the global economy.
Prior to leading PIF, Al Rumayyan built an accomplished career in banking, finance, and capital markets. As Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Saudi Fransi Capital, he strengthened one of the Kingdom’s leading investment institutions while contributing to the growth of Saudi Arabia’s financial sector.
Earlier, he held senior leadership positions at the Capital Market Authority (CMA), including Director of Corporate Finance and Head of Securities Listings, where he oversaw IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, private placements, sukuk, mutual funds, and regulatory initiatives that helped modernize Saudi Arabia’s capital markets.
His experience also includes leadership roles at Saudi Hollandi Bank, where he led international brokerage operations, further building his expertise in investment management and financial markets.
Throughout his career, Al Rumayyan has demonstrated a strong commitment to building international partnerships that support innovation and economic growth. His board positions across globally recognized organizations have enabled stronger collaboration between Saudi Arabia and international markets while attracting investment, technology, and expertise that contribute to national development.

Al Rumayyan earned his degree in Accounting from King Faisal University and further enhanced his executive leadership capabilities through the General Management Program (GMP) at Harvard Business School. His combination of financial expertise, strategic thinking, and global perspective has established him as one of the region’s most influential investment leaders.
