Before joining Albawani, Olivier served as Chief Executive Officer of Modern Building Leaders (MBL) after first advising its Chairman on strategic transformation initiatives.

During this period, the company achieved substantial revenue growth while expanding beyond traditional contracting through the creation of a dedicated Public-Private Partnership division and the acquisition of a leading facilities management company. He also led IPO readiness initiatives, strengthened compliance with Capital Market Authority requirements, and introduced corporate governance frameworks designed to improve transparency, accountability, and executive decision-making.

His work demonstrated how strategic diversification and governance can strengthen both operational performance and long-term competitiveness.

A Legacy of Leadership at BESIX

A significant chapter of Olivier’s career was spent with BESIX, where he held multiple executive leadership positions over nearly two decades.

As Executive Director and General Manager for the Middle East, he led construction and PPP operations across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, overseeing a diverse portfolio of landmark infrastructure projects while guiding thousands of employees across multiple jurisdictions.

His leadership included the successful delivery and financial close of major regional developments, including the Dubai Waste-to-Energy project, Zayed National Museum, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, projects that illustrate the scale and complexity of the environments in which he has operated.

Earlier leadership roles focused on developing BESIX’s Public-Private Partnership portfolio, creating recurring revenue platforms, strengthening business development capabilities, and establishing governance structures across joint ventures and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

At Mercedes-Benz, he managed large dealership operations with full profit-and-loss responsibility, focusing on operational performance, customer experience, and commercial growth.

Earlier in his career, he worked within local government in Belgium, contributing to urban development initiatives involving complex financial and legal structures supported by European funding.

Alongside these executive responsibilities, he also spent several years as a television journalist and presenter, an experience that strengthened his communication skills and ability to engage diverse audiences—qualities that continue to support his leadership today.
