Some executives build businesses. Others build the resilience that allows businesses to thrive through uncertainty. In boardrooms where complex financial decisions, organisational transformation, and long-term value creation converge, leaders with the ability to combine strategic insight with disciplined execution become indispensable. Bashar T. Kayyali has built his career around that responsibility.
As an Independent Board Director, turnaround leader, and Managing Director of Paramount Value Consulting, Kayyali advises listed companies, family businesses, and major conglomerates on governance, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and corporate transformation. His work spans nearly three decades across Saudi Arabia and the GCC, helping organisations strengthen financial performance while preparing for sustainable long-term growth.
Bashar T. Kayyali began his career in corporate finance with Arthur Andersen before moving into senior investment banking roles that would shape his reputation as a trusted financial strategist.
During his tenure at Gulf International Bank, he played a key role in landmark transactions, including the IPOs of STC and Bank Albilad, while contributing to mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, and the restructuring of family-owned businesses preparing for public listings. He later led Deutsche Bank’s Global Banking business in Saudi Arabia, advising corporations, government-related entities, and leading family groups on capital markets, restructuring, and strategic growth initiatives.
These experiences established a strong foundation in investment banking while providing a deep understanding of how organisations create value during periods of expansion and transformation.
“Strong governance is not about limiting ambition. It is about creating the discipline that allows organisations to grow with confidence.”
Throughout his career, Kayyali has consistently been called upon during periods of organisational change.
Whether supporting debt restructurings, operational turnarounds, executive transitions, or IPO readiness, his leadership has focused on restoring stability while positioning businesses for future growth.
One notable example came during his leadership at Future Ceramics and Porcelain Company, where he stepped beyond a traditional board role to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Working closely with management, he led a comprehensive turnaround programme that reshaped the executive team, restructured debt, improved production quality from 62 percent to 98 percent, strengthened governance, and restored financial resilience.
His approach reflects a belief that successful transformation requires board oversight and operational execution to work hand in hand.
Alongside his advisory work, Bashar T. Kayyali has built an extensive portfolio of board leadership across insurance, petrochemicals, manufacturing, healthcare, and diversified family businesses.
He has chaired Executive and Audit Committees while serving on Risk, Investment, and Nomination & Remuneration Committees, bringing financial expertise and independent oversight to organisations operating in highly regulated and strategically important sectors.
Rather than viewing governance as a compliance exercise, he advocates for governance frameworks that strengthen accountability, improve decision-making, and support long-term shareholder value.
Through Paramount Value Consulting, Kayyali continues to advise organisations on some of their most significant strategic decisions.
His work includes supporting capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring programmes, turnaround strategies, IPO readiness, and governance alignment, particularly for family businesses navigating growth and succession.
His leadership continues to focus on:
This multidisciplinary expertise allows him to help organisations manage complexity while strengthening long-term performance.
A defining feature of Kayyali’s career is his ability to move beyond strategic planning into practical implementation.
Across board appointments, executive advisory roles, and turnaround mandates, he has consistently worked alongside leadership teams to translate financial strategy into measurable operational outcomes.
His philosophy is rooted in the belief that strategy creates value only when supported by disciplined execution, accountable leadership, and effective governance.
“The most successful organisations are those where strategy, governance, and execution reinforce one another.”
Executive Leaders proudly recognises Bashar T. Kayyali for his contributions to corporate governance, investment banking, and organisational transformation across Saudi Arabia and the GCC.
