Mohammed AlShammasi has served as Chief Executive Officer of Derayah Financial since September 2016, following his role as Chief Investment Officer from July 2014 to September 2016.

As Chief Investment Officer, he led the establishment and growth of Derayah’s asset-management business, building a portfolio spanning public equities, credit, fixed income, real estate, venture capital, and private equity.

His transition to CEO reflects a progression from investment leadership to broader executive responsibility, combining investment expertise with a focus on innovation, service excellence, and organizational growth.

In January 2026, AlShammasi joined the Saudi Tadawul Group as a Board Member, adding board-level governance experience to his executive responsibilities at Derayah Financial.

His leadership profile extends across investment management, securities trading, fintech, innovation, venture capital, and fund management, positioning him at the intersection of traditional financial services and evolving investment markets.

Building Investment Management Expertise

Before joining Derayah Financial, AlShammasi spent more than eight years at NCB Capital, progressing through senior investment-management positions.

As Head of Investment Management, he managed activities covering equities, fixed income, money markets, multi-asset strategies, and international sub-advisory mandates.

Previously, he served as Head of Equities and Senior Fund Manager, developing extensive expertise in investment analysis, portfolio construction, and fund management.

Early Career in Financial Markets

AlShammasi began his professional career in financial services with Gulf International Bank, where he worked as a trainee from 2000 to 2001.

He subsequently joined Riyad Bank as a Portfolio Manager, serving from 2001 to 2006. This early experience established the foundation for his later career in investment management and portfolio leadership.

Education and Executive Development

AlShammasi holds a BS in Finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, completed between 1997 and 2002.

He further developed his leadership capabilities through executive education, completing the LEAD Program at INSEAD in 2009 and the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University in 2018.
