Leading Schneider Electric Europe

Laurent Bataille serves as Executive Vice President and President of Schneider Electric Europe, where he leads the company’s European operations and supports a workforce of approximately 45,000 employees. The region focuses on electrification, automation, and digitalization across the European economy.

Alongside his regional responsibilities, Bataille is a member of Schneider Electric’s Executive Committee, with a global mandate focused on commercial transformation and customer experience, including the implementation of digital capabilities and AI.

A Career Built Across Energy and Technology

Bataille has spent more than two decades at Schneider Electric, progressing through senior roles with global scope and full P&L responsibility. Before becoming President of Europe, he served as President of Schneider Electric France, leading its national operations from 2021 to 2025.

Earlier, as Executive Vice President of the Digital Energy Division, he led the global digitalization of energy management across digital power, smart buildings, digital grids, and digitally enabled services.

His leadership experience also includes heading Schneider Electric’s EcoBuilding Division, leading its global Solar Business, and overseeing multiple industrial and aerospace business units.

Driving Digital Energy

During his leadership of Digital Energy, Bataille worked across technologies supporting the digital transformation of energy systems—including monitoring and control software, smart-building technologies, grid management systems, analytics, cloud services, and connected solutions.

This experience has positioned him at the intersection of energy infrastructure and digital technology, two fields increasingly central to industrial competitiveness and the transition toward more intelligent and efficient energy systems.

Strategic and Global Business Leadership

Bataille’s leadership foundation extends beyond operational management. Earlier in his career, he worked in strategy and acquisitions at Schneider Electric, where he evaluated acquisition opportunities and contributed to the completion of two US-based acquisitions.

He began his professional career as a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company, gaining experience across industries including insurance, transportation, consumer electronics, media, banking, and private equity.

Industry Leadership and the Energy Transition

Beyond Schneider Electric, Bataille contributes to industry-level discussions as President of GIMELEC and Vice-President for Electrical Activities at FIEEC. Through these roles, he engages with broader industry and policy priorities surrounding Europe’s digital and energy transitions.

His academic background includes an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in Applied Mathematics from École Polytechnique, combining analytical expertise with executive management capabilities.
